Job description

Provide analytical and consulting support to leadership making strategic data-related decisions by analyzing, manipulating, tracking, internally managing and reporting data. This entails working with our data systems to pull information using SQL, analyzing the information in Excel or other tools, and presenting the data to various leaders and/or staff within MSPB.

POSITION DESCRIPTION & DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a high level of expertise in systems relating to assigned areas.
  • Respond to requests for detailed data to support report findings.
  • Act as an advisor or thought partner to the organization's leadership by structuring undefined issues for resolution, researching issues, summarizing information.
  • Working with relevant stakeholders to provide the information needed to make sound and timely decisions.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with internal business partners; including all levels of management, senior leaders, service chiefs, and other data users.
  • Perform analysis for problem solving and new methodologies by extracting data using tools such as SQL, SAS, MS Access and Crystal Reports; and compiling data from data systems.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Determines changes in physical database by studying project requirements; identifying database characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method.
  • Changes database system by coding database descriptions.
  • Protects database by developing access system; specifying user level of access.
  • Maintains user reference by writing and rewriting database descriptions.
  • Deliver high quality results on time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree and experience with a healthcare organization strongly preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Budgeting experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the design, construction and use of complex relational databases required.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel, Access and Visual Basic macros.
  • Highly proficient with SQL data tools, including SAS and SQL.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Strong experience in understanding business partner needs, documenting partner needs, documenting detailed report requirements, and the generation of reporting test cases.
  • Ability to express complex analytical and technical information to senior management or to audiences with clinical training.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment in regard to confidentiality policy and work independently.
  • Must adhere to confidentiality policy.
  • Must be willing to work in-office daily.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk, stand and sit intermittently. Upon occasions be able to assist in properly moving a patient. Be able to lift up to 30 pounds. May need to push or pull medical equipment. May have to stoop, bend knees and/or reach. Must be able to use the keyboard on a computer. Phone work required.
